Detroit’s 12th Annual
Trinity International Film Festival
Detroit- (July,
2018) Detroit’s Trinity International Film Festival taking place August 4-12,
2018 has become Detroit’s signature event for independent filmmakers worldwide.
Celebrating 12 years, this festival has been a platform for filmmakers to
showcase their films and network with professionals in the movie industry.
This year's
festival will have 70 screenings consisting of 18 features and 52 short films
from 17 countries. After the kickoff on August 4th, movie screenings
will take place August 5-11, 2018 at The Carr Center Gallery, in Detroit (1505
Woodward Avenue, Michigan 48226) and the Marlene Boll Theatre (1401 Broadway,
Detroit, Michigan 48226). The entire week will all consist of signature events that will occur throughout the festival including
panel discussions, exhibits and shows based on this year’s theme, “Film, Music
and Fashion”.

summer fashion show hosted by the extraordinary Justin Hatchett.
“Detroit Feature Films” –
Sunday, August

An exclusive
screening of feature films by metro Detroit filmmakers. Join us for the
following screenings: “Stay,” by director, Marcus White II
& Katelin Maylum, “Africa: Through the Eyes Of A Visionaire,” by director, Timashion
Jones, “Count Time The Movie,” by director, Jason Kulayd Clayton, “Love
Espionage – Spy Revenge,” by director, Charlene Jeter and “Last Words,” by director,
Anthony Green.
“Docs, Donuts and
Discussions”
Monday, August 6, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Carr
Gallery (1505 Woodward, Detroit, MI 48226).
An evening
featuring the following documentary films: “BK’s to Curry Boys,” by director
Rayshard Cardon, “Jackson Not Just A Name,”
by director Harold Welton, and “My life with Rosie,” by director, Angela
Sadler Williamson, based on
the late Rosa Parks.
“T-shirts Talking"
Wednesday,
August 8, 2018, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at the Carr Gallery (1505 Woodward,
Detroit, MI 48226)
A panel of Detroit t-shirt
entrepreneurs who have been in business for more than 10 years, featuring:
Kill the Hate, by Vince Williams, Black Money Gear, by Ernest Alexander, everydayimok.com, by Lazar & Marshalle
Favors and several other brands. Designers will discuss entrepreneurship, how
to start a t-shirt business, choosing a name, finding manufacturing &
distribution, printing, finding your audience and developing a quality
brand.
“A Conversation with Bryan Smiley.”

Bryan Smiley is an
experienced media professional and Vice President of Creative Development &
Production at Columbia Pictures a Sony Pictures Entertainment company. At this
event, established and emerging filmmakers will
have an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge about motion picture production
and distribution.
The premiere of “Little Church,”
Thursday, August 10, 2018, 8:00 p.m., at the Marlene Boll
Theatre (1401 Broadway, Detroit, MI 48226)
Little Church is a short film directed by, Zachary C.
Cunningham. The movie follows Michael, the 10-year-old son of a
pastor, who is plagued with anxiety and confusion as he attempts to connect
with his father while struggling to make sense of the culture he's entrenched
in. The short film is a unique coming of age tale from the eyes of a child
faced with a mature environment and responsibilities. Cunningham, the son of a
prominent Detroit pastor, is also familiar with the nuanced
experience associated with being a “preachers’ kid”.
“Mid-day Movies with Final Girls”
Saturday, August 11, 2018, 12:00 noon – 2:30 p.m., at the Marlene
Boll Theatre (1401 Broadway, Detroit, MI 48226)
Final Girls is a collective
of women who are professional filmmakers living and working in Metro
Detroit. This is a special screening of films directed by
women, 2 of which represent this collective: “No Excuses: When A Trainer Needs
A Trainer,” by director Tonya Core and “Candidly Speaking,” by director Tinisha
Brugnone. Additional films include “Eden,” by director, Ana Pio, “7 Planets,”
by director, Milda Baginskaite and “Help Wanted,” by director Kennikki
Jones-Jones. A lunch with the Final Girls will take place after the
screenings.
Red Carpet Awards Ceremony
Saturday, August
11, 2018, 9:30 p.m., at the Carr Gallery (1505 Woodward,
Detroit, MI 48226).
There are a
variety of feature to short films screenings to delight audiences, from action,
drama, animation, comedy, and the special events will surely add to the
